Trojans Hosts Emmanuel on Wednesday

ANDERSON, S.C. - Moving into a two-match home swing, Anderson University women's soccer hosts Emmanuel College in its final non-conference contest of the season Wednesday afternoon at Trojan Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.

The Trojans
AU looks to snap a two-match losing streak coming against conference foes Newberry and Lenoir-Rhyne. Anderson currently has one non-conference win of the season over archrival Erskine, as the Trojans knocked off the Flying Fleet 5-0 on Sept. 16. With the skid, AU sits in a tie with Carson-Newman for eighth place with seven points. Anderson and C-N are currently three points ahead of Mars Hill for the final spot in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament.

Senior Krystal Goss and redshirt sophomore Faith Johannes continue to lead the team in goals on the season, as the duo has tallied three goals apiece. Goss took the team-lead in assists with four after notching an assist on AU's lone goal against Newberry. The four assists ties Goss for fifth place in the conference.

Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Neipp returned to action on Saturday against Lenoir-Rhyne, making 10 saves, her highest total since the season opener against nationally ranked Rollins. Neipp currently ranks second in the conference in saves with 75 on the year.

The Lions
After Emmanuel began the season 4-1-1, the Lions have dropped five straight, being outscored 16-6 in the span. Emmanuel, which is a current member of NAIA looking to transition into Division I, has earned wins over Division I South Carolina State (1-0) and Division II King College (3-1) earlier this season. Most recently, the Lions dropped a 4-0 contest to NAIA power Martin, which was ranked No. 9 at the time of the matchup.

Liene Vaciete leads the team in goals with five on the season as the junior is the lone player with 20 or shots, entering the mid-week contest with 28. Freshman Allison Edenfield is second on the team with three goals, as she has made just six starts on the year.

Senior goalkeeper Cyara Castillo has seen the most action between the posts this season as she carries a 3-5-1 record with 47 saves. Castillo has allowed 15 goals and holds a 1.930 goals against average. Sophomore Breanna Grizzle has seen action in four matches, making three saves.

The Series
Wednesday's meeting will mark the first time Anderson and Emmanuel have faced off, marking the second time this season the Trojans have faced an opponent for the first time in the program's history (Rollins).
