ANDERSON, S.C. - Breaking the South Atlantic Conference record for most ties in a conference schedule, Anderson University women's soccer looks to breakaway from the deadlock trend and grab its third win of the season as it hosts Newberry on Wednesday. Kickoff from Trojan Stadium is set for 2 p.m.

The Trojans
With the scoreless draw on Sunday at Tusculum, AU moved to 2-4-4 on the season and 1-0-4 in the conference, as the Trojans are one of three unbeaten teams in conference play. Lenoir-Rhyne (3-0-1) and the Pioneers (2-0-2) are the other teams without a SAC loss this season. The 0-0 tie gave Anderson its fourth conference draw of the season, breaking Newberry's conference record three set last season. The SAC record for the most overall ties is also held by Newberry, as NC notched six in 2007.

Despite being unbeaten in conference play, AU sits in a tie for seventh place in the conference standings with Catawba. The Trojans are a point behind previous opponents Tusculum and Queens who are tied for the fifth position.

Freshman goalkeeper Sadie Lancaster made her first collegiate start on Sunday, as she shined making nine saves en route to her first career shutout. The freshman now has 11 saves in over 115 minutes of work. Senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Neipp has also been stout between the posts for AU, posting 2.1 clean sheets with 65 saves this year, the second-most in the league.

Since a 3-0 win over Coker, the Trojans have scored just three times in their last four matchups, including two goals against then No. 17 ranked Columbus State. Senior Krystal Goss and redshirt sophomore Faith Johannes lead the team in goals with three apiece, as Goss and freshman Madison Taylor paced the squad with three assists. Goss' 31 shots ties her for fifth in conference.

The Wolves
Coming off a 2-0 shutout over Queens on Saturday, Newberry enters Wednesday's match with a 5-4 overall record and a 3-2 conference mark. With their nine points in conference matchups, the Wolves are alone in fourth place in the SAC standings, three points behind conference leader, Lincoln Memorial. Newberry began the season with a 3-0 record, as NC outscored its opponents 5-0 in the three victories. Since the streak, the Wolves have gone 2-4, highlighted by conference wins over Brevard (1-0) and Queens.

Junior forwards Breanna Naranjo and Gabrielle Brodie, a first team selection on the SAC Preseason All-Conference Team, have provided the offense for the Wolves as the tandem combine for five goals, five assists and 50 shots. Naranjo and Brodie are responsible for 45-percent of Newberry's scoring on the season.

Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Darley has played every minute this season, posting five shutouts with 38 saves. Darley's five shutouts ranked her second in the league, one shot of Tusculum's Marissa Williams' total of six. The sophomore's 38 saves ranks her fourth in the conference, 27 stops behind Neipp who ranks second.

The Series
The in-state rivalry has been in favor of Newberry since Anderson joined the SAC in 2010. AU is 0-2-1 against the Wolves with the lone draw coming in last season's contest at the Newberry College Soccer Field when the teams were unable to find a goal for the full 110 minutes of play.
