ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson University women's soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 setback to No. 11 Lenoir-Rhyne in South Atlantic Conference play Saturday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

Lenoir-Rhyne (13-1-2, 9-0 SAC), which had already clinched the top seed in next week's conference tournament, claimed its third straight regular-season SAC title, finishing the regular season with an unblemished conference slate. The Bears will square off against 8th-seeded Mars Hill on Tuesday in the quarterfinal round of the SAC Tournament.

Anderson (7-6-3, 4-3-2 SAC) earned the fifth seed in next week's tournament and will visit fourth-seeded Catawba in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, with kick-off slated for 5 p.m.

Lenoir-Rhyne dampened the Trojans' senior day and Homecoming celebration by extending its unbeaten streak to 12 matches, while AU was bidding for its third consecutive victory.

Freshman midfielder Garcelle Alequine gave the Bears a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute with a shot from about 30 yards out that reached the left corner of the net and fellow freshman Kendall Smith connected for her sixth goal of the season with just more than three minutes left in the first half.

Lenoir-Rhyne out-shot Anderson, 16-7, while the Trojans held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.

Anderson junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Neipp recorded seven saves on the afternoon, while playing the full 90 minutes.

L-R senior goalkeeper Caitlin Scruggs earned the win, tallying three saves for the Bears.
