COLUMBIA, S.C. - Junior forward Krystal Goss scored a pair of goals to help lead the Anderson women's soccer team, as the Trojans wrapped up their nonconference schedule by blanking Columbia College, 4-0, Wednesday night.

Anderson (6-5-3) snapped a two-match winless streak as the Trojans eclipsed last year's school record eight shutouts by notching their ninth contest without conceding a goal this season.

Columbia, from the Appalachian Athletic Conference, slipped to 9-7-1 on the season with its second consecutive setback.

"I was very proud of our effort tonight," said Anderson head coach Samar Azem. "We cannot control anything but ourselves and our team. I am proud of the girls for showing that and remaining composed mentally and emotionally and taking care of what we needed. I am also incredibly proud of our team for getting our shutout tonight and breaking the record for the second year in a row. These young ladies are very deserving of another broken record."

Early in the first half Goss slotted in her team-leading seventh goal of the season from the left side of the field off a through ball from sophomore midfielder Summer Miller, giving Anderson a 1-0 advantage.

Shortly afterward, the duo combined for another score, as Miller played another through ball and Goss followed by slotting past the Columbia keeper.

With 11 minutes left in the game, freshman Chelsea Hamrick took the ball down the right side of field and found Miller with a cross for her first career collegiate assist and Miller's first goal of the season, giving AU a 3-0 cushion.

Goss found Hamrick with just 22 seconds remaining in the contest and the 5-foot-8 midfielder notched her fourth goal of the season to set the final score.

Anderson resumes its South Atlantic Conference slate with a visit to Carson-Newman on Saturday. Kick-off versus the Eagles is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Jefferson City, Tenn.
