VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Anderson University women's soccer team wrapped up its brief two-match road swing with a 4-2 setback to Valdosta State in nonconference play Tuesday night at the VSU Soccer Complex.

Anderson slipped to 4-4-2 on the season, while Valdosta State, the fourth-ranked team in the NCAA's South Region, improved to 8-1-1 while stretching its unbeaten streak to four matches. With the win, the Blazers avenged a 1-0 setback at the hands of the Trojans from last season.

Trojan junior forward Krystal Goss gave Anderson an early 1-0 advantage by finding the back of the net for her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the seventh minute of action, but Valdosta State's Blakely McClellan netted the equalizer at the 19:28 mark after taking advantage of a free kick by teammate Arielle Sabina.

The Blazers' Emily Cooper scored on a free kick to put VSU ahead, 2-1, with 12 minutes remaining in the first half, but the Trojans answered quickly by taking advantage of a free kick of their own at the 34:10 mark. Senior defender Adrienne Lough found Chelsea Hamrick off a free kick and the freshman midfielder recorded the game-tying score.

Valdosta State struck quickly in the second half for the game-winner, as freshman forward Erin Hill notched her first career goal in the 49th minute by sliding the ball just past AU keeper Kaitlyn Neipp.

The Blazers added an insurance goal with just more than 12 minutes left in the match, with sophomore midfielder Hannah Mulkey notching her second goal of the season from close range.

Valdosta State recorded 23 shots, including 18 in the second stanza, to Anderson's eight attempts on the night. The Blazers also held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

Trojan junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Neipp recorded nine saves on the night, while playing nearly 56 minutes. Freshman keeper Tatiana Guarin garnered one save in 34 minutes.

Anderson will get back on the pitch Saturday, when the Trojans play host to Mars Hill with kick-off slated for 1 p.m.
