Women’s Soccer Drops Heartbreaker at Georgia College

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Georgia College senior Haley O'Hayer's goal in the 86th minute provided the only scoring as the homestanding Bobcats edged Anderson, 1-0, in nonconference women's soccer action Wednesday night at at Bobcat Field.

Anderson (2-2-1) had its two-game win streak snapped in its first true road contest of the season, while Georgia College improved to 3-2 with its second consecutive win.

The Bobcats held a decisive 30-3 advantage in shots, including a 14-0 edge in shots on goal, with AU junior keeper Kaitlyn Neipp recording a career-high 13 saves. The Anderson native eclipsed her previous mark of 12, set exactly two years ago in a 2-2 tie with Harding. Georgia College also held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks on the night.

Junior Krystal Goss launched the Trojans' first shot of the contest at the 46:18 mark, but her attempt was wide, while freshman midfielder Anna Turner's shot in the 75th minute also missed the mark. AU senior Carrie Settle fired her lone attempt of the match at 84:52, but it was wide and less than a minute later O'Hayer recorded the game-winner.

Anderson begins South Atlantic Conference action at Catawba on Friday, with kickoff slated for 5 p.m. at Frock Field.
