ANDERSON, S.C. - Paced by a pair of second-half goals and a smothering defense, the Anderson women's soccer team opened a two-match South Atlantic Conference homestand by blanking Brevard, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon at Trojan Stadium.

Anderson (4-2-1, 2-0 SAC) notched its second consecutive win and its fourth in the last five outings, while Brevard slipped to 1-5-1 overall and 0-1 in conference action as the Tornados dropped their fifth consecutive decision.

The contest was evenly played through the opening 10 minutes, but the Trojans turned momentum in their favor with the second of two corner kicks off the foot of junior forward Krystal Goss in the 12th minute that resulted in the first of seven first-half shots just seconds later. However, AU was unable to convert, as freshman Anna Turner's attempt was blocked.

Brevard's lone shot of the contest, an attempt by junior Elena Crowe, was gathered in by AU junior keeper Kaitlyn Neipp in the 39th minute.

Following the scoreless opening frame, the Trojans struck quickly as junior midfielder Olivia Scalzitti notched her second goal of the season - and first game-winner - at the 46:13 mark after taking an assist from teammate Krystal Goss.

It was Goss' turn in the 57th minute, as the Newry, S.C. native added her team-leading fourth goal of the season by getting open and beating the keeper from in front of the net, giving Anderson a 2-0 lead with just more than 30 minutes remaining.

Anderson held a 15-1 advantage in shots, including a 7-1 edge in shots on goal and recorded six corner kicks on the afternoon.

Neipp earned her fourth win of the season, while garnering one save. Brevard net-minder Brittany Webster collected five saves but suffered the loss.

Anderson concludes its two-match league homestand by playing host to Tusculum on Saturday. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Trojan Stadium.
