Trojans’ Two-Match Win Streak Halted at Tusculum

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Anderson women's soccer team had its two-match win streak broken by Tusculum College, 4-0, in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Niswonger Sports Complex/Pioneer Field.

Tusculum (7-6, 2-3 SAC) has won four in a row, all shutouts, and the Pioneer defense has not surrendered a goal since their setback at Brevard in late September. Anderson dropped to 6-8-1 overall and 2-5 in the SAC.

The Pioneers' Tramicka James recorded her second consecutive hat trick to lead Tusculum. James, who has nine goals in her last four games and was coming off a four-goal performance last Saturday at Barton, scored in the 25th, 39th and 78th minutes for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers got on the scoreboard at 24:04 when James picked up a loose ball from 25 yards out and split the defense for her first score. She scored again at 38:44 when she took a through ball by Kourtney Kavic to send the Pioneers to halftime with a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, James completed the hat trick at 77:43 when she put home a shot to the top left corner for her 12th goal of the season.

Kavic closed out the scoring at 80:02 on a chip from the top of the box, her third goal of the season.

Tusculum outshot AU, 15-6, on the afternoon and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. The Pioneers' Rachael Jennings earned the win, collecting three saves. Freshman Kaitlin Neipp took the loss for the Trojans, while garnering seven saves.

Anderson continues its three-match road swing Monday when the Trojans visit Peach Belt-opponent USC Aiken in search of their first road win of the season. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the "Pacer Pit."
