MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Playing its first road contest of the season, the Anderson women's soccer team opened a four-match road swing by falling, 3-0, to Georgia College and State in the Bobcat Shootout Friday night at Bobcat Field.

With the setback, Anderson had its season-opening three-match win streak snapped, falling to 3-1 on the season, while GCSU (1-3) picked up its first win.

"We actually played very well although the final score line doesn't show it," said Anderson head coach Jason Dowiak. "We only made a few mistakes but GCSU is a quality team and they capitalized on them."

GCSU's Brittaney Borror recorded the first of two assists on the night when she found Katie Taylor for the game-winner in the 21st minute and also posted an assist on Alexandra Knight's score at the 33:01 mark.

The Bobcats added their final goal of the night with just more than 12 minutes left in the contest.

Krystal Goss and Alexandra Induni each posted two shots for AU, but the Trojans were unable to find the back of the net.

Anderson was outshot 21-8 on the night, with freshman Maddison McLendon recording four saves and absorbing the loss for AU. The Bobcats also claimed a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks, with all six coming in the first half.

"We withstood their pressure in the first half better than I've ever seen our team," added Dowiak. "We showed great composure even after going down 2-0. The second half was a new story - we put the pressure on them and got our chances because of it. Britta Widenhouse led the way from center mid with her organized and confident possession and we saw good chances because of it from Allie Waters, Krystal Goss and Danielle Boltin. Alexandra Induni was also very good on the left wing and put more pressure on GCSU than they could handle at times. As a group our back four played their most complete game to date and truly stepped up their commitment to not giving up anything obvious in the final 45 minutes. Britta really was our leader out there though, and set the tone physically and emotionally."

The Trojans close out play at the Shootout with a 1:30 match versus Harding University on Sunday.
