NEWBERRY, S.C. - Newberry's Ashley Reetz scored a goal in each half as the homestanding Wolves shut out Anderson, 2-0, in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at the Newberry Soccer Field.

Anderson dropped to 3-4-1 overall and 0-2 in league action while Newberry moved to 1-6 and 1-1 in the SAC.

Reetz sent in her first goal of the season in the 13th minute off a double assist from teammates Megan Douglas and Christen Chestnutt to give Newberry an early advantage.

The Trojans nearly matched Newberry shot-for-shot in the opening frame but were unable to find the back of the net and Reetz notched her second score of the afternoon in the 47th minute with Wolves Bianca Warder and Amberly Fowler picking up assists on the goal.

The Wolves outshot the Trojans 17 to 13 and took a total of seven shots on goal compared to Anderson's six. AU held an 8-5 edge in corner kicks while Reetz led Newberry with her four shots and Krystal Goss led Anderson with four shots as well, two of which were on goal.

Newberry keeper Kaitlin Neipp recorded five saves while playing the full 90 minutes, as did Emily Rhoades for the Wolves.

The Trojans will look to get back in the win column on Saturday as AU wraps up its season-high six-match road swing with a visit to league opponent Carson-Newman. Kick-off versus the Eagles at McCown Field is scheduled for 4 p.m.
