Bishoff Named First-Team Academic All-District

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson's Whitney Bishoff, a cross country and track standout for the Trojans, continues to build her resume after being named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first-team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday afternoon.

Bishoff, a native of Winder, Ga., earned NCAA Division II XC All-American status after finishing 25th at the NCAA national cross country event last fall. Only a sophomore, Bishoff earned back-to-back Conference Carolinas Runner of the Year accolades and was also named to the All-Conference and All-Region Teams after being named Conference Runner of the Week three times during the season. She holds the school record in the 6K and garnered first-team All-Conference accolades following her win in the 5000m.

In order to earn recognition, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and are voted upon by CoSIDA members. They must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at their respective institution. As a first-team all-district selection, Bishoff is eligible for consideration nationally as an academic All-American.

District III (college division) includes all non-NCAA Division I schools (Division II, III and NAIA) in Florida, Georgia, Virginia and North and South Carolina. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
