Bishoff Qualifies for National Meet

WINGATE, N.C. -- Anderson sophomore Whitney Bishoff used a school-record time in the 6K to qualify for the 2009 Division II Cross Country Championships for the second consecutive year. Wingate University hosted the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional men's and women's cross country championships on Saturday with the women running a 6K and the men competing at a 10K distance. Twenty-five women's teams and 28 men's teams competed to qualify for the 2009 NCAA Division II national meet in Evansville, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 21. The University of Southern Indiana will host the national event at the USI Cross Country Course. Bishoff, from Winder, Ga. recorded a time of 22:42 in the event to finish just behind Lenoir-Rhyne's Katie Griewisch, who posted a winning time of 22:35. She finished 68th in the 2008 NCAA Division II Cross Country meet held in Slippery Rock, Pa. a year ago. As a team, the Trojans women's squad finished 10th. On the men's side, AU senior Alex Jordan also notched a school record time of 33:33, narrowly missing out on earning all-region accolades with his 16th place finish. The AU men recorded a 12th place finish overall.
