Men's Track and Field Completes SAC Outdoor Championships

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's track and field team completed the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday (May 6) at the AU Track Complex, finishing in 10th place with 16 points.

Spain Vaughan placed seventh in the 1500m (3:57.57) while Thomas Sutcliffe (4:01.71) placed 11th. Philip Quillen took sixth in the 5000m (14:48.77) and Spain Vaughan paced at 15:08.61 for 13th. Thomas Sutcliffe (15:44.31), Bryson Mace (15:55.27), Daniel Similton (16:24.39) and Brandon Wilson (17:54.04) also ran for the Trojans. In the field, Grayson Smith competed in the discus throw (29.03m) and shot put (9.66m). The 4x400 relay team finished 11th in a time of 3:29.68.

"Our teams performed at the highest level this weekend," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We walked away with school records, podium finishes, and several lifetime bests. We capped off the season with a great meet and this sets us up well for years to come!"

The Trojans will be back in action next Saturday (May 14) as they travel to Cleveland, TN for the Lee Last Chance Meet. Results can be found at www.autrojans.com.
