Spain Vaughan Sets Indoor Mile School Record at GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Anderson University men's track and field team had a very successful day one of the Grand Valley State University Big Meet, including new personal best times and a new school record.

Spain Vaughan broke the Anderson school indoor record in the mile run with a time of 4:12.62. Philip Quillen set a new indoor personal best in the 5,000m with a mark of 14:39.39.

In day two of the meet, Philip Quillen and Thomas Sutcliffe will be competing in the 3,000m, while Spain Vaughan will run the 800m.

"We came up here to chase certain times and that is exactly what we did," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We finished up the day with four personal bests, two school records, and one provisional national qualifier. It was a historical day for our program, but we know tomorrow's races are just as important."

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday (Feb. 12) for day two of the meet, with results available at www.autrojans.com.
