ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's track and field team completed two meets on the opening day of track and field season, with the team splitting up for the Clemson Opener and the GVSU Holiday Open.

At the Clemson Opener, freshman Simeon Respress led the way for the Trojans by finishing in seventh place in the high jump with 1.87m. Respress also impressed in the long jump with a total of 6.41m.

David Williams recorded a top-10 finish in the 3000m with a time of 9:17.02. Ben Molitor came in eighth place in the 400m dash (52.27) while Hunter Norman was close behind at 53.22 for a ninth place finish. Zach Cannon completed the 200m dash in 24.03 for 22nd place.

At the Grand Valley State Holiday Open, Philip Quillen recorded a top-10 finish in the 5000m with a time of 14:47.46. Freshman Spain Vaughan finished 11th with a mark of 14:50.70. Daniel Similton (15:20.57) and Jonathan Roberts (15:21.57) were other notable finishers for Anderson.

"Our men had some strong showings to kick off the indoor season," said coach Kevin Eagle. "Our men who raced in Michigan completed a long fall semester of racing including cross country so it was good to end on a strong note."

"For the majority who competed at Clemson, it was their first competition all year, so it gives us a place to start from moving forward in training. Overall, I am really excited to get back after it in January!"

The Trojans will be back in action on January 14th when they travel to Columbia, S.C. for the Gamecock Opener. Results can be found at www.autrojans.com.
