Men’s Soccer Finishes 17th in NSCAA’s Final Rankings

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson men's soccer team has been rewarded for its stellar season by earning a No. 17 ranking in the final NSCAA/HendrickCars.com NCAA Division II National Top 25 Poll as released by the National Soccer Coaches Association Tuesday afternoon.

Coach Rob Miller's squad notched its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, falling just shy of a berth in the Elite Eight after upsetting the Southeast Region's top-seed and ninth-ranked Montevallo on the Falcon's home pitch to reach the Sweet 16.

AU (15-6-2, 6-3 SAC) played five road contests in 10 days to close the season, winning five of their last six matches and 12 of their final 14 outings to set a new school record for wins in a season, while posting an impressive 9-1 record in its inaugural season at the new Trojan Stadium.

Junior Lasse Sohrweide was named the 2010 Daktronics NCAA Division II Southeast Region Player of the Year after earning SAC Player of the Year honors. He garnered All-Southeast Region First Team honors for the second straight season after ranking among the top 30 players in the nation in goals, assists, and points.

Seniors Adrien Moufflet and Zach Denson joined Sohrweide on the all-region squad, garnering second-team recognition. Moufflet, a native of Bordeaux, France, earned first team All-SAC honors and was also named to the league's all-tournament team. A native of Lilburn, Ga., Denson was named to the SAC All-Tournament Team and earned second team all-conference accolades after helping lead the Trojan defense to eight shutouts on the season.
