MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Clayton State junior Leighton Fredericks' first-half score lifted third-seeded Clayton State to a 1-0 win past fifth-seeded Anderson in the NCAA's Division II Men's Soccer Southeast Regional Championship Sunday afternoon at Montevallo's Falcon Field.

Fredericks scored the lone goal of the match in the 39th minute when he took a long pass from defender Sam Bevan and worked past AU keeper Benjamin Pepion for his third game-winning score of the season.

After advancing to the NCAA's "Sweet 16" for the first time in school history by getting past the region's No. 1 seed Montevallo on penalty kicks last Friday, Anderson (15-6-2) was unable to find the back of the net despite posting 17 shots, including seven on goal.

The 19th-ranked Lakers (19-3) have now won nine of their last 10 contests and moves on to face the winner of the Rollins/Barry match in the Elite Eight on November 20th or 21st.

The Trojans notched three corner kicks to CLSU's one, with the Lakers recording six shots, including five on goal. Pepion came away with four saves on the afternoon, while Lakers' keeper Brian Garcia garnered seven saves in the effort.
