WINGATE, N.C. - Wingate senior Jamie McKenna scored the game-winning goal in the 95th minute of action as the Anderson men's soccer team had its seven-match win streak snapped by the 19th-ranked Bulldogs, 2-1, in South Atlantic Conference play Wednesday night at the WU Soccer Complex.

Both teams entered the contests with lengthy win streaks on the line, and the Bulldogs extended theirs to 10 as the squads battled for position in next week's conference tournament.

Anderson dropped to 11-5-1 overall and 6-3 in the league, while Wingate improved to 13-2 and 7-1 in conference action.

Wingate junior Felippe Imperatriz gave the Bulldogs the lead with his goal at the 26:55 mark and the two teams went to the locker rooms at the half with WU holding the advantage.

Anderson's Mark Smith notched the equalizer with less than 15 minutes on the clock after taking a feed from Lasse Sohrweide, the league's reigning conference Player of the Week.

Sohrweide nearly gave the Trojans a lead in the final moments when his second shot of the night was just high and caromed off the crossbar in the 88th minute.

AU held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks, but Wingate outshot the Trojans, 10-7, on the night. Sohrweide and teammate Clement Samson each tallied two shots.

The final conference tournament seedings will be determined at the conclusion of league play on Saturday night, with the Lenoir-Rhyne/Tusculum contest, which is slated to begin at 8 p.m.

Eight teams will qualify for the league tournament, with the first round being played at the home of the higher seed and the winners advancing to Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. for the semifinals and championship. Men's quarterfinal action will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 3rd.
