DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- The Anderson baseball team suffered a 19-5 setback at the hands of North Georgia in non-conference baseball action Tuesday night at Bob Stein Stadium. In the first meeting between these two teams nearly five weeks ago, the Saints took a 9-1 lead after four innings en route to claiming a 16-7 win, and tonight's contest had a similar beginning as North Georgia (23-9), which has won three straight and seven of its last eight, scored five runs in the first inning and added two more in the second to jump ahead, 7-0, after two innings. Anderson (13-24) had its two-game win streak snapped, but has still won three of its last five contests. The Trojans got on the scoreboard with two runs in the fourth when Ryan Kirkland drew a one-out walk on five pitches and moved into scoring position when Erick Sanderson nailed a single to center. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and Kirkland crossed the plate as Jonathan Romano beat out an infield single. Catcher Luke Sawyer worked the second walk of the inning and Corey Frye recorded an RBI-single that plated Sanderson. The Saints answered with five runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth and seven in the fifth to increase their cushion to 19-2 after five complete innings. Anderson added a solo run in the sixth on Sawyer's second home run of the season - a shot to left center. The Trojans pushed two runs across in the ninth when Chance Thomas reached on an error and Saxon hammered his team-leading sixth homer of the season over the left field fence. Brett Campbell was charged with the loss, surrendering five runs on four hits in 2/3 of an inning. The Trojans return home Wednesday night for a mid-week doubleheader as Erskine invades Memorial Stadium for two non-conference contests.
