Women's Cross Country Finishes 30th at NCAA Nationals

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA – The Anderson University women's cross country team finished 30th in the NCAA National Championship meet on Friday (Dec. 2) at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington.

"Like most of the season, our women packed up extremely well and found each other in the race to help each other out," said coach Kevin Eagle. "Of course there are always some things we can do better, but this group of ladies gave it their all and held nothing back today. I could not be more proud of the effort that was given today."

Whitney Hanson and Elise Matthews ran step-by-step, finishing 143rd (22:34) and 145th (22:34.01), respectively. Emily Golden (22:40.4) and Jodi Ann Martin (22:40.4) ran together to take 152nd and 155th. Sarah Rudolph (23:15.7), Emma Whitaker (23:33.5), and Faith Nelson (23:35.9) rounded things out for the Trojans.

This is the conclusion of another historical season for the Trojans, reaching nationals for the fourth time in the last five years. Head Coach Kevin Eagle was named the USTFCCCA Women's Southeast Region Coach of the Year, with Hanson, Matthews, Martin, and Golden being named all-region. The team was named the NCAA Elite 90 Team GPA Award winner with a 3.89 GPA, and Aubrey Quillen was named the SAC Elite 23 Award winner with a 4.0 GPA in Chrisitan Studies & Missions.
