Vaughan and Hanson Named Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Spain Vaughan and Whitney Hanson of the Anderson University men's and women's cross country teams have been named the Jimmy John's Male and Female Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 6th.

Vaughan, a sophomore from Greer, S.C., finished second place overall at the SAC Championships while leading the Trojans to a third place team finish. For the season, Vaughan broke the 8,000m school record twice, most recently with a mark of 24:34.1 at the Royals XC Challenge, before it was topped by teammate Elliot Dotson (24:09.20) at the UAH Invitational, where Vaughan also ran a 24:11. For the season, Spain was named first-team All-SAC.

Hanson, a senior from Colstrip, MT, finished eighth place overall at the SAC Championships while leading the Trojans to a second place finish. For the season, Hanson earned second-team All-SAC honors, with her best 6,000m time coming at the UAH Invitational with a mark of 18:09.4. Whitney has helped guide Anderson to the third ranked spot in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Poll.

Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
