Cross Country Prepares for SAC Championships

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's and women's cross country teams are preparing for the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday (Nov. 5) in Salisbury, N.C. at the Salisbury Community Park.

The United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has the Trojans ranked third on the men's side, and fourth for the women. Each poll includes five schools from the SAC, with Wingate holding the No.1 spot for both.

Elliot Dotson is coming off an impressive performance at the UAH Invitational, where he set a new Anderson school record in the 8,000m (8k) as he broke the previous record held by teammate Spain Vaughan by 25 seconds, coming in at a pace of 24:09.20. For the women, Whitney Hanson paced the team at 18:09.40, with Jodi Ann Martin close behind at 18:29.60.

"Both teams are geared up and ready to go for this Saturday's SAC Championships," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We know that the season truly starts this weekend, and the end goal is to have both teams compete in December at the NCAA National Championships. The SAC Championship is just the first step in achieving this goal for both squads."

The women's 6k is slated to begin at 9:00 A.M., with the men's 8k following at 10:30 A.M. Live results can be found at www.autrojans.com.
