Trojans Stay Second in USTFCCCA Poll as Season Begins on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS, LA - The Anderson University women's cross-country team remained second in the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Regional Poll after one week of competition for most programs.

The preseason favorite in the South Atlantic Conference, the Wingate Bulldogs, remained in the top spot of the poll. Three and four in the poll belonged to the Peach Belt Conference in Flagler (No.3) and North Georgia (No.4), as UNG swapped places with Lenoir-Rhyne who is now fifth in the poll.

"It is nice to see that our women have become a staple within the top three of the regional rankings," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We look to build on previous years finishes as we look to become one of the better teams in the country."

Anderson will start their 2022 season when they make the trip to Spartanburg, S.C. for the Converse Kick-Off Classic. The action is slated to begin at 9:15 a.m., with results available at www.autrojans.com.

"The main focus for our first competition is to simply get our racing legs back under us," said Eagle. "There will be a couple of regionally ranked schools in both races for the men and women, so it will give us an idea on how we stack up early on. Both teams are excited to kick off the season this weekend, so it will be fun to watch!"
