The Bears countered with three unanswered points and their lead hovered between four and five points until – with AU trailing, 20-15 - the Trojans rattled off four consecutive points to again close within just one. LR then posted two straight points and held off the Trojans down the stretch.

Third Set
With Knutsen and Sargent combining for nine kills, the Trojans finally came to life in the third set - bouncing back to take the five-point win.

With the Trojans holding a two-point edge moments later, it was then Knutson's turn, as the Colorado native posted a pair of kills to help the Trojans maintain the advantage.

With the Bears staying within striking distance, they eventually knotted the score at 18 apiece before Kinder's seventh kill of the night gave AU a brief 19-18 lead. The score was tied again two more times before Grimm knocked down her 10th kill and Sansbury's eighth gave AU a 22-20 edge and forced a Lenoir-Rhyne time out. A kill by Sergeant gave AU a 23-20 lead but the Bears countered with three straight points to deadlock the score at for the eighth time, at 23-23 and they reached match point with their fourth straight point before AU evened the score again at 24 apiece on an LR error.
