McCurley, Neff, Petrilli and Roy Earn Academic All-District Honors

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University standouts Lindsay McCurley, Hannah Neff, Alexandra Petrilli and Madison Roy have been named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District teams, as announced early Tuesday afternoon.

The teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

McCurley, who played in all 29 matches this season, is now a three-time Academic All-District® Team honoree. She reached double-figure digs 12 times, including the final five contests of the year and posted a season-high 28 digs in the NCAA Regional setback to Lander. She led the Trojans with 332 total digs and 3.29 digs per set, while also leading the team and ranking fourth in the league with 41 service aces.

The Simpsonville native is 10th in the school record books with 127 career aces and ranks 17th in school history with 1,158 career digs.

McCurley is a member of the AU Dean's List and a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. She is majoring in elementary education with an add-on in early childhood education and carries a 4.00 GPA.

Neff, a sophomore from Fort Mill, also saw action in every match this season. She reached double-digit digs a dozen times this year, including eight of the Trojans' final 10 contests of the year. Neff wrapped up the year third on the team with 251 digs and 2.59 digs per set, while ranking fourth on the team with 20 service aces. She posted a career-high 23 digs in the conference tournament quarterfinal win over Mars Hill.

Neff is also a member of the AU Dean's List and a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. She is majoring in mathematics and engineering
and carries a 4.00 GPA.

Petrilli played in every match this season, while ranking second on the squad in both digs (315) and digs per set (3.18/set). She recorded double-figure digs in 19 contests, while notching a season-high 20 in the Trojans' four-set win over Montevallo at the UIndy Invitational. The St. Augustine native was also second on the team with 25 service aces.

Petrilli, a biology major, is also a member of the AU Dean's List and a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. She owns a 3.964 GPA.

Roy saw action in 21 matches this season while sharing setting duties throughout most of the season. The All-American and three-time all-conference honoree notched four double-doubles this season, while dishing out double-figure assists on 20 occasions. She handed out at least 40 assists on seven occasions, while reaching the 30-assist plateau 13 times. The North Myrtle Beach native dished out a season-high 63 assists in AU's Homecoming win over then-No. 20 Wingate.

She ranks sixth in the school record books with 2,621 career assists.

Roy, a member of the AU Dean's List and a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, owns a 4.0 GPA while working toward her master's degree in organizational leadership after earning her undergraduate degree in communications /public relations.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or important reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
