Volleyball Tabbed as Team Under Consideration in First NCAA Southeast Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Anderson University volleyball team is one of ten teams "under consideration" for the 2022 NCAA Southeast Region Championship in the NCAA's initial Division II Southeast Region rankings, as released Wednesday afternoon.

The ten teams currently under consideration will not be put in any rank order until next week.

• Anderson (18-4, 11-3 SAC) has won seven straight and nine of its last 10 decisions and is in second place in the Piedmont Division of the South Atlantic Conference.

• Augusta, the defending Southeast Region Champion, is 21-5 overall and owns a 9-2 record in the six-team Peach Belt Conference. The Lady Jags are riding a nine-game win streak and have won 12 of their last 13 decisions.

• Carson-Newman (22-4, 13-2 SAC), which is in first place in the SAC's Mountain Division, has won 12 of its last 14 outings and two straight after dropping a four-set decision at home to defending Southeast Region Champion, Augusta, last Friday.

• Emmanuel (20-7, 14-1 CC) has won 18 of its last 19 decisions, with its only league setback coming nearly a month ago at North Greenville.

• Flagler is currently third in the Peach Belt Conference with a 12-7 overall record and a 6-4 mark in PBC action.

• Lander (17-8, 8-4 PBC) is second in the Peach Belt, behind Augusta, and has won two straight after being swept in back-to-back outings by Anderson and Carson-Newman.

• Mars Hill (15-7, 10-4 SAC) is 2 ½ games behind Carson-Newman in the SAC's Mountain Division and is seeking to snap a four-game skid this weekend.

• UNC Pembroke (16-13, 13-2 CC) is in first place in the East Division of Conference Carolinas and a half-game in front of Mount Olive, which has won seven straight decisions.

• USC Aiken is 15-11 overall and owns a 4-8 record in the Peach Belt.

• Wingate (24-1, 15-0 SAC), the preseason favorite to win the South Atlantic Conference championship, is riding a 22-game win streak and is atop the SAC Piedmont Division standings.

Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections.

The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.

The three regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on Wednesdays through November 9, with the NCAA D-II Tournament selections scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday night, Nov. 22, at 10 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.

The final two rankings (Nov. 2 and Nov. 9) will be in rank order.

The Trojans open their final two-match homestand of the season by welcoming Piedmont Division front-runner and preseason league-favorite Wingate to the Abney Athletic Center on Friday, while Coker is slated to arrive in the Electric City, Saturday afternoon.
