ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University junior Rylie Sargent has been named the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week, for the week ending October 30.
Sargent, a volleyball player from Greer, was named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the league office on Monday afternoon. She has reached double-figure kills seven times this season and helped lead the Trojans to two conference wins last week, including an upset of then 20th-ranked Wingate and a sweep of Coker.
Sargent posted 27 kills (3.38/set) on the strength of a .451 attacking percentage last week, including a career-best 22 kills (4.4/set) on the strength of a .429 hitting percentage in the Trojans' five-set win over Wingate on Friday. She followed up with five kills behind a .559 hitting percentage in Saturday's sweep of the Cobras. On the season, Sargent is third on the team with a career-high 182 kills and 40 blocks.
