ANDERSON, S.C. - In a battle between the top two teams in the South Atlantic Conference coming into the match, freshman Lindsay Gregory rallied for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 6 to lift Anderson past Tusculum, 5-4, Saturday afternoon at the Max Grubbs Memorial Tennis Courts.

Anderson (10-6, 8-0 SAC) won its third consecutive match and its' fourth of the last five outings to stay perfect at home (7-0) on the season, while Tusculum (13-2, 4-1 SAC) dropped just its second overall match of the season and its first league contest.

The Pioneers claimed two doubles' points, but Anderson took three of the first five points on the singles side to set up the dramatic point at No. six singles.

AU's Avery Owens and Bianca Chequin teamed up to win their third straight doubles match at the No. three slot, 8-4, past Tusculum's Kate Hutchinson and Megan Buckmaster.

After the Pioneers' Holly Verner defeated Camie Beaulieu-Brunet, 7-5, 6-0, at No. one singles, AU freshman Clair Larkin gave Anderson its second point of the afternoon by defeating TC's Katelyn Doss, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, while Owens claimed her second of the day by winning a three-set, 6-2, 6-7, 7-6, decision past Courtney Conley at No. three singles.

Tusculum's Taylor Patterson gave the Pioneers a 4-3 edge with a three-set, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5, win past Shelby Anderson at No. four, but Lauren Trumbull picked up a straight-set, 6-2, 6-4 win at No. five and Gregory rallied for the victory at No. six to give AU the win.

Anderson will get back on the courts Tuesday, when the Trojans open a three-match road swing at Wingate. The Trojans and Bulldogs are scheduled to get underway at 2:30 p.m.
