ANDERSON, S.C. - Playing its first match in nearly three weeks, the Anderson women's tennis team fell to 35th-ranked Augusta State, 5-1, in non-conference action Friday afternoon at the Max Grubbs Memorial Courts.
Augusta State, ranked eighth in the Southeast Region, improved to 11-6 on the season, while Anderson, ranked 12th regionally, has dropped two of its last three and slipped to 7-4 on the year.
The Trojan doubles' tandem of Julie Halbert and Marcela Gallegos earned AU's lone win of the afternoon by defeating Augusta State's Camila Correa and Julie Fontaine, 8-6, at the No. 3 doubles' flight. Halbert and Gallegos stretched their win streak to seven matches with the victory.
Anderson will get back on the courts Sunday, as the Trojans visit Tusculum for a South Atlantic Conference matchup at 2 p.m.
