JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Anderson women's tennis team bounced back from a disappointing loss Monday to shut out Carson-Newman, 9-0, in South Atlantic Conference action Tuesday afternoon.
Anderson improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the league, while Carson-Newman dropped to 2-1 and 0-1.
Camie Beaulieu-Brunet and Shelby Anderson defeated Taryn Cappadona and Stefy Stand, 8-2, at the No. 1 doubles' flight, while the AU tandem of Avery Owens and Lauren Trumbull topped C-N's Kylie Elliott and Stephanie Goode, 8-4, at No. 2. Julie Halbert and Marcela Gallegos edged Katie Brown and Megan Wilson, 9-7, to close out doubles' action.
Beaulieu-Brunet claimed a three-set win past Elliott, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, at No. 1 singles and Owens took down Cappadona 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 2 slot. Trumbull held off Stand 6-1, 7-6 at No. 3, while Halbert outlasted Brown, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6, at No. 4.
Anderson and Weiland posted straight-set wins to close out the
match.
Anderson plays host to Erskine on Friday at the Max Grubbs Courts,
with first-serve slated for 3 p.m.
