Women’s Golf in 18th Following Opening Round of Hilton Head Lakes Invitational

BLUFFTON, S.C. - Led by senior Sarah Timms' 12-over-par 84, the Anderson women's golf team is in 18th place following the first round of the Hilton Head Lakes Invitational, hosted by Pfeiffer at the par-72, 5800-yard Hilton Head Lakes Golf Club layout on Monday.

UNC Pembroke (302) holds a five-shot lead over King (Tenn.) after the first round, with Wingate (308) one stroke further back. Mount Olive (312), Converse (315), Queens (317), North Georgia (318), Catawba (318) Erskine (320) and the host Falcons (323) round out the top 10 teams.

Pembroke's Laura Bird fired a 2-under-par 70 and leads the chase for individual medalist honors by two strokes over King's Elizabeth Swallow (72), while four additional golfers are four shots off the pace with 2-over-par 74s.

Timms is in a five-way tie for 58th, with junior Garyt Hamilton (89) sharing the 71st spot. Senior Natalie Feder is tied for 77th after carding a 90 and junior Arista Setro sits in a tie for 79th after Monday's first round.

The final round of the two-day tourney is slated for Tuesday.
