KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Led by senior Natalie Feder's two-day 22-over-par 166, the Anderson University women's golf team wrapped up the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate with a 15th-place finish.
The tourney, hosted by Tusculum at the par 72, 5,865-yard Cougar Point Golf Club, marked the Trojans' spring season-opening event and featured five teams from the South Atlantic Conference in addition to Anderson.
Florida Southern (297-293=590) claimed the team title in wire-to-wire fashion by seven shots over Montevallo (305-292=597), which jumped from fourth place following Saturday's opening round, as the Moccasins earned their fourth Kiawah Island Intercollegiate title. Northwood (299-304=603) dropped one spot from second to third after the final round, while Limestone (298-310=608) fell from second to fourth.
Northwood's Elsa Westin (70-67=137) pulled away from the field during the final round to win individual medalist honors by carding a tournament record low score and claimed the championship by four strokes over Florida Southern's Emily Rhymer.
Feder, who posted a consistent 83 during each round, slipped from a share of 52nd to 55th, while junior Braiden Furtick (84-83=167) was one shot further back and shared the 56th spot. Fellow junior Garyt Hamilton (88-90=178) finished in 74th, with senior Sarah Timms (88-93=181) placing 75th.
Following a two-week layoff, the Trojans are slated to get back on the links at the Converse Spring Invitational, hosted at the Carolina Country Club, on Feb. 23-24.
