Women’s Golf Finishes 14th at Flagler’s Fall Slam

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Led by junior Braiden Furtick's two-day total 168, the Anderson University women's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule by finishing 14th at the 12th Annual Flagler Fall Slam, hosted by the Saints at the Marsh Creek Country Club.

None of the 81 golfers on-hand were able to card an even-par score on the 6,062-yard, par-72 layout, with Lynn's Jessica Bradley (72-73=145) outdueling Armstrong's Patricia Schmidt (77-69=146) for the individual title.

Host and eighth-ranked Flagler College (308-293=601) overcame a four stroke deficit and claimed the team title past fourth-ranked Lynn University (304-302=606) by five shots. Seminole State (310-304=614) was eight shots further back, with 19th-ranked Armstrong State remaining in fourth after a two-day 616. Barry University (320-304=624) held on to the fifth spot, while Wingate (323-310=633) snapped a sixth-place tie with Montevallo (323-313=636) to claim fifth and 18th-ranked Limestone (327-311=638) finished eighth.

25th-ranked Northeastern State (Okla.) jumped from a tie for 11th to ninth on the strength of a two-day 649, while Tusculum (329-329=658), Tampa (340-319=659) and North Georgia (332-334=666) finished 10th, 11th and 12th, respectively.

Catawba (330-339=669) wrapped up the tournament in 13th, while Anderson (350-352=702) and Eckerd (356-354-=710) rounded out the 15-team field.

Furtick (81-87=168) finished the event in a three-way tie for 51st, with seniors Natalie Feder and Sarah Timms firing two-day 176s to finish tied for 67th. Junior Arista Setro (91-91=182) shared the 74th spot, with junior Garyt Hamilton rounding out the Trojan contingent with a 188 to claim 77th.

AU is scheduled to open its spring slate on Feb. 6 at the Kiawah Island Golf Intercollegiate.
