AU Women Second, Men Third At Conference Meet

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Senior Jennifer Hitt made Conference Carolinas history with her fourth consecutive conference individual title to lead the Lady Trojans to a second place finish in the Conference Carolinas meet Saturday morning at the Milliken Course. Hitt, a senior from Fountain Inn, S.C., recorded a time of 19:05 to win the individual title by six seconds over teammate Diana Willard. Hitt was named the league's Runner of the Year for the fourth straight year. Hitt won two titles at Anderson's Pine Lake Golf Course and two titles at the Milliken Course. Anderson placed four runners in the top 17, but Lees-McRae placed five runners in the top 15 to take the title. The Lady Bobcats finished with 51 points. Anderson was second with 78 points, and Pfeiffer was third with 125 points. Anderson's Ashley McClellion finished ninth with a time of 19:56 to earn Freshman of the Year honors. Hitt, Willard, and McClellion all earned all-conference honors for Anderson. In the men's race, Anderson placed five runners in the top 20 but just one in the top 10 on its way to a third-place finish. Queens University of Charlotte had five runners in the top 19, including three in the top five, to take the title with 45 points. Lees-McRae was second with 60 points, and Anderson was third with 78 points. Nate Parsons (9th, 26:49) and Alex Jordan (15th, 27:06) earned all-conference honors for Anderson.
