GREENWOOD, S.C. -- The Anderson University women's cross country team finished first and the AU men finish second in the Lander/Connie Maxwell Invitational Saturday morning. The Anderson women placed six runners in the top 17 on their way to a dominating victory in the 5K event. Jennifer Hitt (19:59) finished second, Diana Willard (20:27) finished fourth, Chelsea Rogers (21:15) finished seventh, and Ashley McClellion (21:36) finished ninth for the Lady Trojans. Anderson finished the meet with 38 points to beat host Lander by 42 points. Limestone was third with 89 points, and Erskine was fourth with 95 points. In the men's meet, Anderson placed four runners in the top 10, but Spartanburg Methodist finished 1-7-8-11-12 to edge the Trojans by two points. Anderson was led by Jason Bryan, who finished third with a time of 27:56 in the 8K event. Also finishing in the top 10 for Anderson were Jeremy Hunsaker (6th, 28:30), Ethan Schaffner (9th, 29:10), and Matt Atkinson (10th, 29:17). Spartanburg Methodist won the meet with 39 points.
