ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Anderson College women's cross country team finished fourth and the AC men's team finished seventh in the Gold/College Division of the ASICS/Winthrop Invitational at the Winthrop Farm Saturday morning. The Lady Trojans have finished fourth or better in three of their four meets this season. The AC women placed three runners in the top 20 in the 5K event -- Jennifer Hitt (3rd, 19:59), Ashley Smoak (9th, 20:28), and Kasey Harold (18th, 21:18). Shawnee State won the women's meet with 42 points, Lees-McRae was second with 67 points, Lander was third with 87 points, and Anderson was fourth with 99 points. The Anderson men were led by Ethan Schaffner, who finished 14th in the 8K event with a time of 27:09. In four meets this season, Schaffner has recorded four top-15 finishes. AC's Matt Atkinson finished in 35th place with a time of 28:46. Virginia Intermont College placed five runners in the top seven to easily take the team title with 17 points.
