Philip Quillen and Daniel Similton Win Events At Montreat College Invitational

MONTREAT, N.C. - The Anderson University men's track and field team had a very successful weekend at the Montreat College Invitational, including two event wins and several personal bests.

Daniel Similton set the pace for the Trojans by winning the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:49.04. Philip Quillen also had success by winning the 5000m run with a mark of 14:56.06, with Michael Burgess finishing in ninth place (15:39.94). Matthew Burgess came in 12th in the 1500m (4:08.10). Conner Wheatley finished with a distance of 12.26m in the shot put and 36.24m in the discus throw.

"It was a great outing for our guys with two event wins and several personal bests," said coach Kevin Eagle. "It's great to see these marks now with four weeks left until the SAC Championships to get even better."

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 3) as they travel to Central, S.C. for the SWU Open (sprints/throws only). Live results can be found at www.autrojans.com
