CENTRAL, S.C. - The Anderson University men's track and field team had a very successful meet on Saturday (Mar. 6) at the Susan Rouse Invitational.

Philip Quillen won the 3000m with a mark of 8:40.47, with Thomas Sutcliffe coming in second place at 9:02.63 and Hayden Tuten in ninth place at 9:45.53. Matthew Burgess finished in second place in the 1500m with a time of 4:05.07, and Hunter Norman ran well in the 800m (2:04.84).

In the 5000m, Patrick Berlejung finished in second place with a time of 14:52.22, and Daniel Similton came in sixth place at 15:13.81. In the field, Connor Wheatley finished ninth in the discus throw with a heave of 36.51m.

"It was a great day for both teams today," said coach Kevin Eagle. "We had four event wins and a total of 12 all time personal bests for our athletes in various events. We wanted to come in and compete with the best of the 20+ teams in action today and we definitely did that. We now have a two week layoff from competition, so we will take what we learned from today and implement it into our training moving forward now that we know our fitness level has increased."

The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 20) as they travel to Cleveland, TN for the Lee Invitational. Live results can be found at www.autrojans.com.
