Trojans Look to Continue Home Success Wednesday

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson men's tennis team (7-7, 2-6 SAC) look to continue their strong play at home on Wednesday afternoon as Newberry comes to town. AU has won their last two matches at home, both in conference play.

SCOUTING NEWBERRY

  • The Wolves are wrapping up a two-match road trip, after a 6-1 defeat to No. 31-ranked Wingate on Monday.

  • In singles play, freshman David Negzaoui leads the team with seven wins at the No. 2 position, including a five-match win streak at the end of February.

  • On the doubles court, Negzaoui and junior Joshua Fritz have compiled six wins at the No. 1 spot to lead the team.

  • Newberry's most recent win came on the road by a 4-3 score at Limestone on March 7th. The Wolves dominated in doubles, sweeping all three courts, and carried the momentum into singles.

 

LAST TIME HERE

AU defeated Newberry on the road last season by a 4-3 score. The Trojans secured the doubles point quickly with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, before taking singles matches at the bottom three spots in the lineup. After the match had been clinched, the Wolves prevailed in a three-set battle of ranked opponents at the No. 1 position.

 

DOMINANT DUO

AU's doubles play has been led by junior Patrick Cronin and freshman Vicent Mico. The pair has a 9-4 total doubles record, including wins in six of their last seven matches.
