No. 44 Trojans Seek 2-0 Start At Emmanuel

ANDERSON, S.C. – The No. 44 Anderson Trojans men's tennis team is set to hit the road on Friday for a matchup with the Emmanuel Lions. AU looks to build off of a 7-0 shutout win over USC Sumter in their first fall competition. The Black and Gold recorded the win on the back of several new additions to the lineup.

Last Meeting at Anderson: Anderson won 6-1 on April 18, 2023

Last Meeting at Emmanuel: Emmanuel won 4-2 on March 17, 2022

COACH'S CORNER

"We're looking forward to competing this week at Emmanuel," said AU Head Coach Joey Eskridge. "We have three more weeks of competition this fall and we hope the boys can bring home the W on Friday."

 

LAST TIME OUT

The Trojans came out firing with a 7-0 shutout of the USC Sumter Fire Ants back on September 16th. AU swept all 7 matches that were played between doubles and singles. Junior Patrick Cronin dominated at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles, dropping only three games over the three combined sets that he played.

  • AU has won their last 4 road matches against non-conference opponents.

  • The Black and Gold are 9-0 in the month of October, dating back to the 2009-10 season.

  • Emmanuel handed the Trojans their last road loss in non-conference play back in 2021.

SCOUTING THE LIONS

  • Emmanuel will be opening their 2023 season against AU.

  • The Lions posted an 8-10 overall record last season.

  • EC took down SAC member and No. 46-ranked Limestone 4-3 for a signature win in October 2022.

  • Roger Sawyer is the interim head coach of Emmanuel, taking over from four-year head coach Kethan Darbar.

  • The Lions return 2 starters from last year's singles lineup, including sophomore Parv Nage, who had a 7-5 record at the No. 4 spot.
