Trojans Wrap Up Fall Season with 12th Place Showing at McCoy-Wright Currahee Collegiate Invitational

TOCCOA, Ga. – Rounding out their fall competition hosting the 2023 McCoy-Wright Currahee Collegiate Invitational, the Anderson University men's golf team picked up a tie for twelfth place among some of the best teams in the Southeast Region at the Currahee Club on October 23-24.

North Georgia took home the team title at ten-under par while Lincoln Memorial finished second at five-under. The Trojans finished tied with their co-hosts, Erskine, in twelfth place with a +34 for the week.

Freshmen Sam McMillan (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) and Can Gürdenli (Instanbul, Turkey) finished the highest up on the leader board for the Trojans as they both tied for 26th in the field with an overall six-over score. McMillan shot rounds of 77-68-77 while Gürdenli was able to record rounds of 73-78-71.

Senior Daniel Coker (Hartsville, S.C.) fired rounds of 79-75-75 to finish tied for 51st in the field with a +13 card for the week while freshman Luke Sullivan (Columbia, S.C.) slid just one stroke behind him at +14 to finish tied for 55th. He shot rounds of 76-83-71. Senior Jamie Markwick (Bishop's Waltham, England) rounded out the scoring for the Trojans as he shot rounds of 79-81-74 to finish tied for 62nd overall and +18 for the tournament.

Anderson will now turn their attention to the spring season as they away action at the LMU Spring Kickoff on February 12-13.
