Men's Golf Sits Alone in 13th in Stacked Field at Mizuno Intercollegiate

GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Coming off their opening tournament of the season, the Anderson University men's golf team sits in 13th place at the second tournament of the fall as they take part in the strong field at the UNG Mizuno Intercollegiate at the Chattahoochee Golf Club on Monday, September 18.

The Trojans fired a respectable 302 in the opening round but would catch fire in the second round as they were able to card a 289 (+1) to move three places up the leaderboard. Lincoln Memorial leads the field at -20 through two rounds, eight strokes better than the hosts North Georgia at -12.

Freshman Can Gürdenli (Istanbul, Turkey) paced the Trojans on the day as he was able to open the day with a three-over 75 before rounding out his afternoon with an even-par round to sit in a tie for 49th. Freshman Luke Sullivan (Columbia, S.C.) and senior Jamie Markwick (Bishop's Waltham, England) both took different paths to find themselves tied for 54th individually. Sullivan shot equal rounds of 74 on the day while Markwick was able to recover from an opening round 77 to shoot 71 in the afternoon.

Sophomore Sam Norris (Simpsonville, S.C.) shot an even-par round two to move up the leaderboard, sitting in a tie for 68th after the first day of action. Freshman Sam McMillian (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) was equal in each round of the day as well as he shot back-to-back 76's to sit in 79th in the tournament.

The Trojans wrap up action with the third round of the Mizuno Intercollegiate tomorrow morning, September 19.
