No. 9 Trojans Wrap Up Mizuno Intercollegiate With 13th Place Finish

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Wrapping up their second tournament of the fall season, the No. 9 Anderson University men's golf team was able to take home a 13th place finish at the UNG Mizuno Intercollegiate held at the Chattahoochee Golf Club on Tuesday, September 19.

"We had the awesome opportunity to play against the regions best and some of the nation's best again this week at a really good venue," said head coach Austin Castles. "I can't say it went like we would've hoped, but it was a great learning experience for all involved. We have a really talented group and we just got to continue to get a little better each and every day.

Lincoln Memorial captured the team title with a -27 score. The Trojans were able to post one of the better rounds of the second day of action to move a few spots up the leaderboard, but ultimately finished at +24 for the tournament with their 13th place finish.

Freshman Can Gürdenli (Instanbul, Turkey) continued to lead the way for Anderson as he was able to finish tied for 25th in the field after carding a one-under 71 in the final round of action. Senior Jamie Markwick (Bishop's Waltham, England) jumped up the leaderboard as well on the third day as he shot a three-over 75 in the round to finish tied for 53rd. Freshman Sam McMillian (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) wrapped up his tournament with a 73 on Tuesday that slated him in a tie for 69th on the individual side.

Freshman Luke Sullivan (Columbia, S.C.) finished the tournament tied for 76th while sophomore Sam Norris (Simpsonville, S.C.) finished 83rd.

Anderson will now take a week off from competition while preparing for the Cateechee Fall Invitational in the beginning of October.
