North Georgia Rolls Past Anderson, 10-2

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- North Georgia College & State University rolled past Anderson University 10-2 in a non-conference game at the North Georgia Baseball Complex Wednesday. The Saints (22-19) struck first in the bottom of first inning when Brian Lauderdale advanced himself around the bases after being hit by a pitch. Jake Barrow hit a sacrifice fly to left field allowing Lauderdale to cross the plate and put the Saints up, 1-0. Dusty Tate stole second after being walked and David Chastain provided an RBI single to left to increase North Georgia's lead to 2-0. In the top of the fourth, the Trojans (18-28) rallied with back-to-back doubles by Jonathan Pitts and Clint Neville and a sacrifice by Cody Nye to tie the game at 2. The Saints answered in the bottom of the fourth with three runs. Two of the runs came home on an RBI double by Lauderdale and a run-scoring single by Ryan Gurley. In the North Georgia fifth, Creston Warner singled up the middle to lead off the inning. Chastain reached first on a fielder's choice, then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Lauderdale and Barrow were walked to score the first run in the inning. Justin Rickett hit an RBI single and Gurley doubled to score the third run of the inning, giving North Georgia a 9-2 advantage. In the eighth, Rickett smacked a solo home run over the left field fence for North Georgia's final run. Saints' starting pitcher Zach Black (3-2) earned the win allowing just two runs and five hits while tallying seven strikeouts in 7.0 innings pitched. James Wilson closed out the remaining two innings for the Saints and allowed no hits and struck out two Trojan batters. Kevin Young (3-4) received the loss for Anderson after pitching 2.1 innings and allowing five runs and six hits. North Georgia will travel to Anderson for another non-conference match-up with the Trojans at 6 p.m. Thursday. 2006 Anderson University Baseball Statistics
