Spencer Heming and Spain Vaughan Named Jimmy John’s Female and Male Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University junior Spencer Heming and freshman Spain Vaughan have been named the Jimmy John's Female and Male Athletes of the Week.

Heming, a women's soccer player from Cincinnati, Ohio, scored the game-winner against South Atlantic Conference-opponent Mars Hill on Homecoming last Saturday afternoon at Spero Financial Field. The junior played 82 minutes in her debut back from tearing her ACL in the spring. The Trojans have won two straight and will face off with conference opponent Lincoln Memorial on Saturday.

A men's cross country runner from Greer, Vaughan led the Trojans at the South Atlantic Championship by finishing in 12th place individually with a personal-best time of 24:46.0 over the 8k distance. He captured Second-Team All-Conference honors and was named to the SAC All-Freshman Team.

As a team, the Trojans finished fourth with a team time of 2:05:20 and a score of 87.

Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
