Late Second Half Goal Lifts Trojans Over USC Aiken; 1-0

ANDERSON, S.C.– Anderson University women's soccer scored a late second goal to earn its first victory of the season, 1-0, over nonconference opponent USC Aiken at Spero Financial Field.

"It was great to get a win tonight, but I am more proud of how we played," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We are excited to take on conference play with this group."

After a scoreless first half of action, Anderson continued to pressure and organize different runs with senior Havon Ashy finally being able to break through in the 80th minute.

The Trojans outshot USC Aiken 16(10) – 8(4) while also winning the corner kick advantage, 6-4.

Anderson's keeper Jeanette Campbell recorded three saves on the match, while the Pacers keeper, Mary Cecil recorded nine on the evening.

The Black and Gold will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to South Atlantic Conference opponent Limestone. Kick-off is slated for 5 p.m.
