MILLEDGEVILLE, GA.– Anderson University women's soccer fell, 2-0, in its season opener to nonconference opponent Florida Southern at the Bobcat Kickoff Classic hosted by Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.
"We are early in the season and are still gelling as a team," said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We look forward to another opportunity on Monday."
Florida Southern was able to sneak a goal past Anderson keeper Jeanette Campbell in late stages of the first half (36:46) to put the Moccasins up, 1-0.
The Moccasins added an insurance goal on a break away, midway through the second half (66:16).
Florida Southern took 23 shots with 13 coming on goal to Anderson's six shots with two coming on goal. The Moccasins won the corner kick advantage, 7-2.
Campbell recorded 11 saves for the Trojans.
The Black and Gold will square off with host Georgia College on Monday. Kick-off is slated for 1:30 pm.
