Women's Soccer Defeats Shaw; 1-0

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson women's soccer team won its final regular season home match, defeating nonconference opponent Shaw, 1-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Spero Financial Field.

"I loved the team effort displayed tonight, said head coach Sarah Jacobs. "We possessed the ball and controlled the game well. It was great to get the win for the seniors."

The Trojans improve to (5-8-1) while the Lady Bears fall to (6-8).

AU had several good looks in the first half of action, but it wasn't until the 75th minute of action that graduate student Havon Ashy struck a perfectly placed ball over the keeper from 25 yard out. Ashy's eventual game-winner was her second goal of the season.

For the match, the Trojans outshot Shaw 17(6)-4(1) while winning the corner kick advantage, 8-1.

Junior keeper Jeanette Campbell had one save on the evening while Maude Rouanet was credited with five saves.

The Black and Gold hits the road to play South Atlantic Conference foe Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. Kick-off is slated for 12:30 pm.
