Mars Hill Shuts Out Lady Trojans, 5-0

MARS HILL, N.C. -- Jasmine Riley scored a pair of goals and assisted on another Lion score to lead Mars Hill past Anderson College 5-0 Wednesday night at Meares Stadium. MHC improves to 10-6-1 on the season, while Anderson fall to 3-9-2. Riley scored her two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match. She scored on a cross from Rachel Barcio at the 7:50 mark and then found the back of the net on a breakaway at the 9:02 mark. Becky Roa gave MHC a 3-0 lead in the 26th minute when she scored off of a deflection. Alicia Blaha scored from Riley's assist in the 49th minute and then Kristen Huppert ended the scoring when she blasted a kick past the Anderson goalkeeper from 30 yards out. Huppert's goal was unassisted. MHC out shot Anderson 20-7 in the match. Claudia Cala played 52:24 minutes in goal for MHC and made two saves. Shannon Higgins played the final 37:36 minutes in goal for the Lions and made three saves. Bethany Craig and Catherine Thomas split time in goal for Anderson.
