Anderson, Lees-McRae Women Battle To 1-1 Tie

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Anderson College and Lees-McRae battled to a 1-1 tie in a CVAC women's match Saturday afternoon at Smethers Field. Anderson, 3-8-2 overall and 2-6-1 in the CVAC, dominated the first half but could not find the back of the Bobcat net. Anderson had two excellent opportunities in the first 20 minutes -- a penalty kick and a break away -- but could not covert. Anderson broke up the scoreless tie in the 61st minute when Lees-McRae goalkeeper Anita Hekman was given a yellow card after a scramble in the box. Megan Delancey knocked home penalty kick at the 60:58 mark to give Anderson a 1-0 lead. Lees-McRae, 2-8-2 and 1-5-1, applied a lot of offensive pressure late in regulation and finally broke through with just 21 seconds remaining in the match. Meghan Bofenkamp lofted a free kick from 30 yards that went over the head of Anderson goalkeeper Amanda English for the equalizer at 89:29. Anderson had 24 shots to 13 for Lees-McRae.
